Elevenses, Monday 13 October, Rewriting the House Rules: A Toolkit for Queer Stories in Unexpected Places

tea cup and biscuit

Join us for this Elevenses where Indigo Dunphy-Smith will introduce us to How to Queer Your Historic House, a recently launched toolkit that empowers heritage professionals to imaginatively share LGBTQ+ histories through their heritage collections. Focusing on everyday objects, gaps in the record, and social context we’ll explore how to tell queer stories where they’re least expected. Through playful interpretation methods and creative reframing, this session builds confidence to rethink what counts as evidence, who gets to be part of the narrative, and how we can make space for queer lives in every corner of the house (or museum!).

Insightful, interactive and informal, come along to gain new insights from our guests, meet colleagues from the region, and connect with the MDN team. Everyone who works and volunteers in museums is most welcome, including museum freelancers who want to stay connected.
