Elevenses, Tuesday 18 June, Improving access to a collection using digitisation and an integrated website

The Saltaire Collection’s recently launched new website has been designed to give access to all of its 6000+ items. The Saltaire Collection is based in Shipley, near Bradford, West Yorkshire. Over the last two years, the Saltaire Collection has revised its catalogue records and embarked on an ambitious digitisation programme to provide content for the website. For the first time, the public can explore the entire collection in detail and can view digital media for over 10% of the items. It has been a lot of work, requiring a wide range of skills, but all accomplished by the Saltaire team of volunteers.

Jonathan Ainsworth will talk us through the ups and downs of delivering this ambitious project.

Insightful, interactive and informal, come along to gain new insights from our guests, meet colleagues from the region, connect with the MD North team and discuss your own projects. Everyone who works and volunteers in museums is most welcome, including museum freelancers who want to stay connected.
