The Getting Your House in Order online programme uses the framework of Spectrum 5.1 and its procedures to focus on the planning and work required for museums to get their collections documentation in order.  There are six workshops in the programme led by staff at the Collections Trust.  For more information visit here.

In this session we will focus on the Spectrum 5.1 procedure and for recording and managing the location and movement of objects. Implementing this procedure is key to being accountable for objects in your care.

The session will cover identifying and describing locations, recording the movement of objects, potential barriers to successful implementation and how these might be resolved, and maintenance of location information.

There will be opportunities to ask questions during the session, as well as share ideas with other attendees.

By the end of the session, delegates will:

  • Understand the Spectrum 5.1 procedure Location and movement control.
  • Understand the importance of recording and maintaining up to date information about object locations.
  • Understand the role of the Spectrum standard in relation to museum Accreditation.
  • Know where to find more information and guidance.
