Introduction to AI in Museums, online

This session will provide a short introduction to AI in Museums. It is aimed at museum staff, volunteers and trustees wishing to find out more about AI, and how their organisation might respond to these emerging technologies.

Join Jocelyn Burnham who will create a neutral space to explore, understand, discuss and critically examine emerging artificial intelligence tools and their applications, with a focus on a museum context. Participants will build awareness of technologies such as video, image, code and text generation, while core AI concepts and terminology are introduced in an approachable way.  The session balances technical fundamentals with an exploratory, culture-rooted approach, encouraging safe, sustainable and enjoyable self-learning, criticism and innovation.

As a result of attending this event, you will learn about:

  • Key terms and concepts
  • Emerging generative AI tools
  • AI for unexpected applications
  • Critical perspectives (data security, environmental, copyright, bias)

The session will include comfort breaks and break-out rooms.
