Unlocking Audience Insights: Making the most of Data, online Zoom

Join us to discover more, and improve your confidence, in planning and undertaking data collection. Trainer Christina Lister will explore how to use research, consultation and evaluation to better understand your users and non-users and what to do with this data.

This session will cover:

  •  An overview of sector and national data on audience trends
  • The purpose of audience evaluation and what you can use it for
  • How you can best share your data with funders
  • Simple data collection frameworks
  • Different methods you can use for data collection and when to use them
  • Making sense of your data, including using contextual data such as sector benchmarks and local community data
  • Pragmatic tips on how to make the most of what you have and what you can do with limited or no budget and time
  • Acting on your findings.

The session will also share visual examples from organisations across the country as inspiration, covering both visitors and non-users.

Who should attend

This session is introductory level, or as a refresher for those who have some experience of data collection.  It is for museums who may currently be doing some limited audience research and want to expand this work and better understand how to use their data.

About the session delivery

  • The session will be delivered online via Zoom.
  • There will be a break-out session and participants will be encouraged to interact via the Chat function.
  • There will be a comfort break half way through the session.
  • Copies of slides and relevant resources will be provided after the session.

About the trainer

Christina is a marketing and audience development consultant with 22 years’ experience in agency, in-house and consultancy roles, specialising in working with museums, heritage sites and cultural venues. She undertake audits, consultation, and research; develop strategies; and run training, all of which supports organisations’ resilience, growth and sustainability.

She has worked with a huge range of museums, heritage sites and arts organisations across the country, including volunteer-run and smaller organisations, local authority-run organisations, larger museums and sector support organisations.
