Income Generation – Income Strategy and Prioritisation

Museums are under increasing pressure to generate income, but it can be difficult to know where to focus limited time, energy and resources.
This practical online session will help museums think strategically about income generation and fundraising. We will explore how to find realistic opportunities, assess what is most appropriate for your organisation, and prioritise activity that is achievable and sustainable.
The session will support participants to consider their museum’s assets, audiences, relationships and capacity, and to think about how these can inform a more focused approach to generating income.
The session will include practical guidance, examples, discussion and opportunities to reflect on your own organisation.
By the end of the session, participants will have:
- a clearer understanding of different income generation and fundraising opportunities
- a practical approach to assessing and prioritising opportunities
- ideas for developing income activity that fits their organisation’s capacity and context
- greater confidence in deciding where to focus next
This session is part of the Income Generation and Fundraising Training Programme and is open to museums in the North of England only. The sessions are linked but stand alone, so you do not need to attend the full series.
