Elevenses, Monday 4 November, Arts Council England Designation Scheme
The Designation Scheme recognises and celebrates collections of national and international importance based on their quality and significance. Aysha Afridi (Senior Manager, Museums and Cultural Property) will be sharing more information on the recently re-opened Scheme and what it can mean for your collections. The team at the Bronte Museum in Haworth will also give a short presentation about their experience of successfully applying for designated status.
Collections held in England’s non-national museums, libraries and archives can apply for Designated status, recognising how their collections play a significant role in deepening our understanding of the world and our shared cultural heritage. Established in 1997, the Scheme has become a marker of significance for collections of all shapes and sizes and highlights the rich diversity of regional collections across England. The award means that the importance of a collection can be further recognised by funders, researchers, and the public. This helps ensure that these collections are protected and developed for wider enjoyment, learning and research.
Insightful, interactive and informal, come along to gain new insights from our guests, meet colleagues from the region, and connect with the MDN team. Everyone who works and volunteers in museums is most welcome, including museum freelancers who want to stay connected.
