Collections at the Heart – Accountability in practice

Being accountable for collections is key to maintaining public trust in museums, but it is also a necessity for managing and using objects effectively. The Spectrum standard provides a framework for accountability, but this is dependent on how policies and procedures are reviewed and implemented within a museum.
This session will examine what accountability is, why the Spectrum procedures are important for accountability and reducing risk, and what accountability can enable in the museum, allowing it to make the most of its collections to achieve its aims.
