Museum Security – Resources and Guidance
Following the tragic terrorist attack in Manchester last week, our thoughts are with the victims, affected families and communities. We know this is a challenging and upsetting time for many communities and some of our teams will need additional support.
As MD North we will be creating new resources over the next few months for Front of House teams to help with personal and organisational resilience.
Earlier this week, the National Museum Security Group recommended that museums review the guidance from ProtectUK. For those museums who have not yet attended a briefing session, we also recommend that museums look at the expectations of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act.
Whilst this can seem overwhelming, most museums will probably have much of this in hand and now is a good time to review your plans and procedures.
