Open to All – Improving your offer for Disabled Visitors

Do you want to improve what you offer for disabled people? Perhaps you have already made some improvements but realise that there is a lot more to do and would value some expert help and advice? Do you have a limited budget but are keen to make change?

In 2026 we are offering a range of services to support museums to improve their welcome and offer for all visitors.

Access for All Cohort

After an incredibly popular first year, the cohort is returning. This intensive programme of in-person and online sessions is a fantastic way to increase knowledge and skills. Find out all about the programme here

Please note that there is an expectation for the lead applicant to attend all sessions, but there may be opportunity to bring along a colleague to individual sessions. The deadline for applications is 18 May.

Access Reviews

The cohort project manager, Liz Denton, has recently completed the “Accessibility and Inclusive Design” course run by the National Register of Access Consultants.

In 2026 she will be offering Access Reviews, which are not at the level of a formal audit but designed to be an excellent starting point and highlight areas for improvement.

Support includes:

  • Site visit
  • Mini Report
  • Follow-up online meeting

Further details about the access reviews can be found here

Contact Liz directly if you have any further questions about access in general or would like to know the process for applying for a review: liz.denton@museumdevelopmentnorth.org.uk
