SWHEA – Strategic Finance Trustee

The Saltaire World Heritage Education Association (SWHEA) manages the Saltaire Collection, at Shipley College and is based in the Bradford District of West Yorkshire and are currently seeking a Strategic Finance Trustee.
The Saltaire Collection was initiated by the local community in 1987 and now holds over 6,000 items that help interpret the World Heritage Site of Saltaire for visitors and learners. This is an exciting time to be involved as the charity progresses toward Museum Accreditation for the collection and plans to move into a purpose-built museum with bespoke storage, research, and public display space in 2026. They are small in scale and currently voluntarily managed and run.
The board of ten trustees meets every two months, usually via Zoom. The vacant position is strategic in nature, playing a significant part in ensuring business financial management and planning is robust. On a monthly basis, the role includes a small amount of financial monitoring (bookkeeping is undertaken by their partner, Shipley College) whilst offering opportunities to scope and embed a strategic approach to funding development.
Applications are particularly welcomed from within the Bradford and Leeds districts, which are within easy travelling distance, and the role would suit a person with a background in business or third-sector financial management. The voluntary time commitment rarely exceeds half a day each week and the current trustee team are warm and welcoming. An induction period will be offered.
Closing date – 7 April
