Transforming Collections 2025-2026

The Transforming Collections programme is designed to help museums think about how they can explore, question, and review collections and collections information collaboratively to build more inclusive collections development practices.
In 2024-25 MD North piloted three online sessions on Rethinking Cataloguing, Collections Review and Collections Deaccessioning and Disposal using the knowledge and experience of guest speakers and case studies.
In 2025-26 we will be building on this programme with a series of online and in-person sessions.
Online sessions include:
- Digital Engagement with Collections
- Co-creating Collections Information
- Contemporary Collecting
- Restitution and Repatriation
- Commissioning New Work for Collections
Further details and booking information for these sessions will open from July 2025.
In 2026 we will also deliver a series of in-person, in-depth collections focused forums across the North.
