Getting Your House In Order 5: Cataloguing
In this session we will introduce the Spectrum 5.1 Cataloguing procedure, used for the ongoing process of recording and managing information about collections.
We will look at the requirements for the standard, policy guidance, and the suggested procedure. We will broadly consider themes from the procedure such as: selecting and associating information; capturing and storing information; users and contributors.
There will be opportunities to discuss with colleagues and ask questions throughout, as well as signposting to further guidance.
There are 22 places on this workshop. Places are available for museums in the north of England, priority will be given to those which are not regularly funded by Arts Council England or central government. If there are more than two delegates from a single museum booked on a workshop we reserve the right to amend delegate lists to allow museums from the waiting list to participate.
By the end of the session, attendees will:
Understand the Spectrum 5.1 Cataloguing procedure.
Understand the importance of policy.
Understand the role of the Spectrum standard in relation to museum Accreditation.
Know where to find more information and guidance.
