Elevenses, Thursday 3 October, Taking stock of your current digital preservation capability to inform next steps
Archives Consultant Simon Wilson is leading Danum Digital: Getting Doncaster’s digital records on track a project funded by The National Archives Resilience Grant. As well as supporting colleagues in Doncaster a key element of the project is to engage with museum colleagues across the North.
The session will introduce the Digital Preservation Coalition’s Rapid Assessment Model self assessment tool. This allows a service to identify its current digital preservation capability across 11 areas including legal, policy and strategy, IT capability, metadata and access. Crucially the framework also encourages a target level to achieve in the next year or so and to identify the current barriers and issues faced.
Insightful, interactive and informal, come along to gain new insights from our guests, meet colleagues from the region, and connect with the MDN team. Everyone who works and volunteers in museums is most welcome, including museum freelancers who want to stay connected.
